Bone Densitometry (DEXA)
Bone Densitometry (DEXA)
It's important to test your bone density, or the strength of your bones, in order to know if you have osteoporosis. Bone density scanning, also known as dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry (DEXA), is used to measure bone loss. DEXA is an established standard for measuring bone mineral density (BMD).
Tanir Medical Center is in possession of a GE Lunar DPX DUO DEXA machine. Schedule an appointment with our office to have your bone density exam completed.
24 Hour BP and Heart Monitoring
24 Hour BP and Heart Monitoring
24 hour heart monitoring is done with what is called a holter monitor. This machine is worn for a 24 hour period with leads attached to the patients chest. After 24 hours the monitor is removed and plugged into a computer to read the test results.
What is a Holter Monitor?
A Holter monitor is a machine that continuously records the heart's rhythms. The monitor is usually worn for 24 - 48 hours during normal activity.
24 Hour Heart Monitoring
Holter monitoring is used to determine how the heart responds to normal activity.
The monitor may also be used:
- After a heart attack
- To diagnose heart rhythm problems
- When starting a new heart medicine
It may be used to diagnose:
- Atrial fibrillation/flutter
- Multifocal atrial tachycardia
- Palpitations
- Paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia
- Reasons for fainting
- Slow heart rate (bradycardia)
- Ventricular tachycardia
24 Hour BP Monitoring
Why It Is Done?
- If you have "borderline" high blood pressure
- If you and your doctor can't keep your blood pressure under control
- If you have blood pressure problems caused by your other medicines
- If you have changed your medicine
- If you are pregnant and have high blood pressure
- If you have fainting spells
Flight Physicals
Flight Physicals
Dr. Narin Tanir is an Aviation Medical Examiner as well. This means she can perform the physicals for the Federal Flight Administration for Pilot Licensing. Dr. Tanir offers Flight Physicals for Second and Third Class pilots as well as for Student Pilots.
What is an FAA Medical Exam For?
You need a medical certificate before flying solo in an airplane, helicopter, gyroplane, or airship. We suggest you get your medical certificate before beginning flight training. This will alert you to any condition that would prevent you from becoming a pilot before you pay for lessons. If you are going to pilot a balloon or glider, you don't need a medical certificate. All you need to do is write a statement certifying that you have no medical defect that would make you unable to pilot a balloon or glide.
All Flight Physicals require an appointment. Call our office today to schedule an appointment.
